Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy: Harnessing the Profound Healing Power of AB-ISTDP to Rapidly Reach the Unconscious

Summary

This conference will introduce clinicians to Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (AB-ISTDP): an adaptation of Davanloo’s potent model of psychotherapy used to safely overcome defenses and heal the unconscious origin of neurotic and personality disorders. We will review Freud’s platform of Davanloo’s ISTDP Metapsychology and integrate key discoveries from preeminent Attachment Scholars including John Bowlby, Mary Ainsworth, and Mary Main. We will also highlight the scientific contributions of David Malan to the field of short-term psychotherapy and honor his contributions to our approach to working with Unconscious Process. The course will demonstrate this technique using videotaped psychotherapy sessions which lead to successful access of the unconscious system to repair attachment trauma and alleviate neurotic suffering.
