ATTACHMENT BASED /SHORT-TERM DYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Understanding Modern Concepts of the Punitive Superego
THE CASE OF THE MAN WITH A GHOST IN THE BASEMENT AND THE NURSERY

This conference will demonstrate the technique of Attachment Based/ ISTDP, a form of therapy that relies heavily on the research of Dr. Habib Davanloo. His research, based on “unlocking the unconscious” in psychiatric outpatients, demonstrates how accessing unconscious affect early in the course of dynamic psychotherapy accelerates and deepens the therapeutic process, ensuring a favorable outcome

Dr. Robert Neborsky will present his research into the origins of the Punitive Superego from an, ethologic, evolutionary perspective. He will discuss Freud's and Jung's points of view and contrast them with newest research from Affective Neurosciences, He will show video-vignettes of him helping patients de-identify with their Punitive superegos.

The conference will help to explain these dynamic concepts:

  1. Resistance
  2. Therapeutic Alliance
  3. Triangle of Conflict
  4. Triangle of Persons
  5. Unconscious Anxiety
  6. Punitive Superego and its Three Heads
  7. Ego Adaptive Capacity
  8. Central Dynamic Sequence
  9. Attachment Trauma
  10. Attachment Status
