Robert J. Neborsky, M.D

Robert J. Neborsky, M.D. is a psychiatrist in private practice in Del Mar, California, and
a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD School of Medicine as well as UCLA School of
Medicine (Hon). He is currently guest editor of the Ad Hoc Bulletin of Short-Term Dynamic
Psychotherapy. In 2003, Dr. Neborsky was honored by the UCLA School of Medicine
clinical faculty association as the Distinguished Psychiatric Lecturer of the year for 2002. In
1981, while training with Dr. Habib Davanloo, he co-founded the San Diego Institute for
Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. In 2001, he co-authored Short-Term Therapy for Long
Term Change (Norton) and is a contributing author in the 2003 book, Healing Trauma
(Norton). He along with Dr. ten Have-de Labije have authored The Collected Writings of
Robert J. Neborsky, MD and Josette ten Have-de Labije, Psy.D. (in Press) and will release
Road Map to the Unconscious: Mastering Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy
(Karnac, 2010) in May 2010.

Josette ten Have-de Labije, PsyD

Josette ten Have-de Labije, Psy.D. is a registered psychotherapist and clinical psychologist,
is Dutch by birth, and began her training with Davanloo when he started to give core training
in the Netherlands. She started her professional career at the department of neuro- and
psychophysiology at the Free University of Brussels (Belgium). After three years she switched
her professional focus to psychotherapy. She is trained as a cognitive and behavior therapist
(individuals and groups), a couples therapist, and a psychodynamic psycho therapist
(individuals and groups). She has written several articles on autonomy problems of women,
a self-help book on fear of flying, has edited a book on cancer research, and has organized
several international conferences. In addition, Dr. ten Have-de Labije has written and
published many articles on the theory and technique of ISTDP.

Allan Abbass, MD

Allan Abbass, M.D. is professor and Director of Education at the Dalhousie University
Department of Psychiatry. Having trained with Davanloo since 1990, Allan is a leading
teacher and practitioner in ISTDP, providing regular training programs to European and
North American audiences. He founded the Centre for Emotions and Health, a center of
excellence for research and teaching of Davanloo’s method where he is pleased to host
international trainees and research colleagues. He is a leading researcher in short-term
dynamic psychotherapy with 100 publications comprised of case illustrations, technical
descriptions, clinical trials, a randomized controlled trial and several metaanalyses including
a Cochrane review.

Jon Frederickson, MSW 

Jon Frederickson, M.S.W. is co-chair of the Intensive Short Dynamic Psychotherapy Training
Program at the Washington School of Psychiatry. He has authored over twenty published
articles and the book, “Psychodynamic Psychotherapy: Learning to Listen from Multiple
Perspectives.” He teaches and gives presentations on ISTDP in the United Kingdom,
Norway, Denmark, Poland, and Italy.

Sari Watkin, MD

Sari Watkin, M.D., Conference Coordinator, is a psychiatrist in private practice in
West Los Angeles and a Clinical Instructor, Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral
Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. 

Robin L. Kay, PhD

Robin L. Kay, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Los Angeles,
California and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the David Geffen
School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Kay has published articles related to theory and
technique in Attachment-Based Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ABISTDP)
and presented her work both in the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Kay teaches
a yearlong course on AB-ISTDP and accelerated psychotherapy for psychiatry
residents at UCLA 

Thomas M. Brod, MD

Thomas M Brod, M.D. is in private practice in west Los Angeles; he is Associate
Clinical Professor, Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences
and Faculty at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, New Center for
Psychoanalysis (Los Angeles).

Linda C. Gilbert, PhD

Linda C. Gilbert, Ph.D. has an adult ISTDP practice in West Los Angeles and also specializes in psychological testing of children and adolescents. She is the Director of Training for the Southern California Society for AB-ISTDP.
